William teases Ross Kemp for Traitors spoilers

Prince William teased hardman Ross Kemp for spoilers about Celebrity Traitors as the pair joined forces to launch an emergency kit for winter. The EastEnders actor, who is starring in the current series of the hit TV show, joined the Prince of Wales in Somerset today at the unveiling of an emergency kit to protect residents from the predicted floods of this winter.

Ross Kemp compares show to Taliban dodging

He revealed taking part in the hit BBC show was more stressful than dodging bullets from the Taliban during one of the 127 survival documentaries he’s presented. And he was delighted to learn that both William and Kate are huge Traitors fans. He said: “That’s great. Them and the rest of the country. I’ve been on the TV for 43 years, but I’ve never known anything like this.

“Even the fella at my local garage wanted a selfie; he’s never been bothered before.” But Ross gave nothing away about his future on the hit show other than to say with a smile: “I am a faithful.”

Paranoid in an emergency

In the first episodes of Celebrity Traitors, Ross was paranoid he was about to be murdered when he was given a captain’s hat and innocently tapped on the shoulder by another contestant. And he poked fun at the moment by pulling a stunned face when William put his arm on his back for a picture.

He said: “You need to be paranoid in an emergency; it means you are ready for what’s coming.” The emergency kits are being supplied by the National Emergencies Trust. William is royal patron of the charity and Ross is an ambassador.

Ready Together toolkit launch

The prince met members of Ilminster Under 16s football club to discuss the actions they can take to protect themselves and their community the next time the River Isle bursts its banks. But inevitably the conversation returned to Traitors and who will be the eventual winner. The prince told the teenagers: “I’ll get Ross to tell me the answer about what happens. Spolier alert!”

It is hoped the new emergency iniative will help existing community groups become better prepared for emergencies by leveraging their skills, resources and networks. William and Ross took part in a practical training exercise, where they joined participants as they worked through a series of emergency scenarios, exploring how local knowledge, trusted relationships and community networks can help communities respond effectively during periods of disruption.

A spokesman for Kensington Palace said: “Research has shown that people are very willing to help in an emergency, including to support their neighbours during a crisis. At the same time, far fewer feel their communities have the structures and plans in place to respond effectively. Ready Together seeks to bridge that gap by turning goodwill into practical preparedness.”
