A 35-year-old man has been found dead at a property in Briton Ferry. South Wales Police said the discovery was made after officers attended the property to carry out a welfare check.
Officers were called to the property just before midday on Tuesday, October 6, and nearby residents were asked to stay inside their homes while work was carried out at the scene.
No suspicious circumstances
South Wales Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and added that formal identification was yet to take place. As officers continue their investigation, an increased policing presence is expected in the area.
A spokesperson from South Wales Police said: "Officers attended an address on Brynhyfryd Road, Briton Ferry, Neath Port Talbot at 11:50am today (Tuesday, October 6) to conduct a welfare check.
"A 35-year-old man from Briton Ferry was found dead on the property. There are no suspicious circumstances."
Investigation ongoing
The spokesperson added: "Formal ID has yet to take place. An increased policing presence will be seen in the vicinity as officers carry out their investigation."
