Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are rebuilding their life in the UK once more, choosing the Cotswolds as their base. The prestigious rural area is a hotspot for celebrities and is known for offering them privacy, but reports suggest this is not the only reason the couple decided to move there.
Friends and connections in the area
“They have lots of friends in the area,” a source has told HELLO!. “Meghan is close to Ellen DeGeneres, who lives there with her wife, Portia de Rossi, as does Simon Cowell, who is friends with Prince Harry.”
The source added: “There is also Soho Farmhouse, a members' club where they are sure to spend some time, as Meghan is still friendly with the Soho House executive Markus Anderson. The house they rented when they were last living in the Cotswolds was quite small and isn't big enough for what they need now, so they will have to find somewhere else.”
Choosing a quieter life
The couple relocated to the UK at the end of August, and there was much speculation about where they would choose to settle. Rumours began to swirl about whether the couple would live in London, but instead they chose a quieter life in the country, away from the bustle and buzz of the capital.
Speaking to the Daily Express, Mr Vigar, author of The Four Wives of Windsor, said: “Harry spent a large chunk of his childhood in the Cotswolds when he was staying with his father and still has lots of friends there.
“But the most important thing is that it is not London! There are several airports they can use without going anywhere near the capital and attracting attention.”
Family and future plans
The pair will not be returning to their roles as working royals after stepping down from their duties in 2020. Their two children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, have been enrolled into British schools.
Reports say the couple plans to return to the UK for what has been described as an extended period. The King reportedly welcomes the opportunity to see more of his family.
