Florin Marin, now 33, inherited a £250,000 estate from his 81-year-old former vicar lover Philip Clements, who died in 2020, and is now displaying his lavish lifestyle on social media. Marin was left a £2,000-a-month pension and a lump sum of £150,000 after Clements passed away.
Relationship and Move to Romania
Clements, from Eastry, Kent, moved to Romania in 2017 to live with Marin. The pensioner sold his house in Sandwich, Kent, for £215,000, bought a home in Bucharest, and transferred ownership into Marin's name. The couple's marriage attracted attention and was even featured on Jeremy Kyle's ITV show.
At the time, Clements said: “I love him to bits – if we were permanently separated, I would be the most unhappy person in the world.” Clements had served as an Anglican priest for 50 years before retiring and beginning his relationship with Marin.
New Relationships and Luxury Lifestyle
The couple met in 2015 on the gay dating app Grindr. After Clements' death, Marin entered two other long-term relationships: first with Spaniard Jeronimo, and then with Giovanni Messina, a 50-year-old German-Italian hotel boss. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Marin revealed he now also has a new “mistress” – a 50-year-old Bulgarian businessman – alongside Messina.
Marin said he loves trips abroad and “does not spend a penny” on designer clothes or trips, as they are funded by his new lover or Messina. He added that his new lover sometimes gets jealous and competitive with his “mistress.” In online clips, Marin has shown off business-class flights, sipping champagne and doing his skincare routine during a flight from Frankfurt to New York. He also posted pictures from his hotel room overlooking Times Square and clips of him dancing to TikTok trends there, along with unboxing designer gifts.
Inheritance and Criticism
Marin inherited the £250,000 estate after just three years of marriage. He said he “deserved” the inheritance amid allegations of being a “gold digger,” with Clements' family dubbing him a “leech.” At the time, he said: “I'm not a gold digger. Who doesn't like money?” He added: “We can't live in this world if we don't have money, but doesn't mean you are a gold digger. It doesn't mean if you marry an older guy you are a gold digger. I was in love with Philip.”
