Mike Tindall has been named as the royal family member who reportedly tried to broker a reconciliation between Princes William and Harry. The efforts, which included inviting both brothers to dinner, drinks, or to "knock heads over a beer," ultimately came to nothing, according to a report in Woman and Home magazine.
Royal editor Emily Andrews wrote that "Harry has always been close to Zara and Mike Tindall" and that "Mike repeatedly tried to broker reconciliation between the brothers by inviting both of them to dinner or drinks - or just to knock heads over a beer."
Brothers' relationship and Harry's return to the UK
The brothers are thought not to have spoken for years, with the duo said to have last met in 2024. Harry has since moved back to the UK from across the Atlantic with his wife Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet.
The report on the reconciliation efforts emerged on Thursday, October 29. Harry recently said he wants to "work out" a "sibling disagreement" with his older brother William, but added that "some people don't want it to work out."
A spokesperson for Harry later clarified that his comment about "some people" not wanting to work things out was not intended as a swipe at William or any other member of the Royal Family.
Sussexes step back from public appearances
The path to reconciliation has appeared to become clearer this week as Harry and Meghan have reportedly decided to step back from public appearances temporarily to avoid sharing the limelight with the King and Prince of Wales.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced criticism when a recent trip to Nottingham fell on the same day as Charles' ceremonial opening of the Welsh Parliament. The diary clash was caused by the Sussex office and Buckingham Palace not sharing enough information about their respective schedules accidentally.
The Sussexes' step back from the spotlight means King Charles' Caribbean tour, and William and Catherine's trip to India next month, will be the sole focus of the royal universe.
