Strictly Come Dancing star Will Best has become a father for the first time, welcoming a baby boy named Sonny with his fiancée, Tobi Rose. The presenter, who is currently taking part in the show with Dianne Buswell, shared the announcement on social media, posting a collection of snaps and a video for his followers.
In his post, he wrote: "Well, who do we have here then? ! Welcome to the world, Sonny Best, you little smasher. @tobiroseofficial, you're a miracle, and I love you so much. A couple of tired new parents (see last slide), but oh my goodness, aren't we lucky xxx"
Well-wishes from fellow Strictly stars
It wasn't long before he was inundated with congratulations, including from his fellow Strictly stars. Josh Widdicombe said: "Holy moly!!!! Congratulations mate!" As his Strictly partner wrote: "Yay I’m so happy for you and Tobie and Bowie is so excited to meet little Sonny." Another person commented: "Oh Will! He's perfect! Huge huge congrats to you and Tobi!"
This weekend (October 17), BBC viewers are set to see Will and Dianne deliver an Elton John-themed performance during Icons Week.
Good Morning Britain discusses the news
Speaking about the joyful news on Friday's edition of GMB, Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh were joined by Rishi Davda to discuss the latest celebrity headlines. Rishi informed Kate and Ranvir: "There's the pitter-patter of brand new little dancing feet in the Strictly family. Big Brother host Will Best has announced he's become a dad for the first time, welcoming a baby boy with his fiancée, Tobi Rose."
"The couple have named their little bundle of joy Sonny. Will shared some adorable snaps from the hospital, saying they're feeling 'very lucky' and, of course, very tired. With Strictly's Icons Week coming up tomorrow night, Will's got a very little special supporter cheering him on from home."
The show subsequently aired footage from Will's social media, in which he was pictured cradling his newborn in hospital. He told his followers he had got a "cool new thing today", before offering a glimpse of his newly arrived son.
Panel reacts to the baby news
Once the clip concluded, Ranvir described it as "so lovely" while Rishi remarked upon how tiny the infant was. Ranvir then quipped, "You know what's funny, though? Will Best will go, 'Gosh, you know what love, I'm so tired'. She'll be like, 'Err, I've just given birth to a baby?'. You know what I mean?"
As Kate proposed Will might avoid the night feeds, Ranvir insisted he wouldn't wish to, adding: "Congratulations, Will and Tobi"
