Stephen Graham praised his wife Hannah Walters during an appearance on ITV's This Morning with Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley. The 53-year-old actor was on the programme to discuss his new book Letters to Our Sons, a collection of letters from fathers across different backgrounds to their sons.
Graham spoke about the influence of both his parents and described the idea behind the book as a 'wonderful thing', noting there is something inside the pages for everyone.
33 years together
The conversation turned to the women in his life when Cat Deeley said: "Hannah (Walters), you talk about her so beautifully."
Graham replied: "She's my best mate, I'm very fortunate. We've been together for 33 years, I'm very blessed. Some people would say I'm in a codependent relationship, I say, 'I'm sweet with that'.
"We work, it works, we have our ups and downs, she can annoy me occasionally, we're not The Waltons, I don't think anyone is. But, she's my best mate, we're a team."
Teamwork at home
He also spoke about their children, saying: "That's another thing, Alfie and Grace, I'm very blessed to have beautiful children, they see me helping out around the house, doing my bit.
"I'll Hoover up, not just load the washing machine and empty the bins, there's a lot more to it. I think if we change that narrative of 'Dad goes to work, comes home and tea's on the table', today, relationships we're both at work, so it's a team."
"It's shown our children that it's unimportant to be there for each other and to talk to each other and to listen."
On-screen partnership
Graham starred alongside his wife in the Netflix series Adolescence, where she played teacher Mrs Bailey in the second episode, assisting with the police investigation. The couple have also appeared together in the BBC's Boiling Point, Time and the Disney+ series A Thousand Blows.
