Stacey Solomon begins makeover of £2.2m mansion with 'nemesis' wallpaper
Stacey Solomon starts £2.2m mansion makeover despite wallpaper 'nemesis'

Stacey Solomon has begun putting her stamp on the £2.2 million eight-bedroom mansion she and husband Joe Swash recently moved into, starting with a Halloween-themed makeover of the staircase she dubbed the "Home Alone hallway of my dreams."

The 36-year-old Sort Your Life Out star, who left the Essex home Pickle Cottage with Swash, 44, and her five children, has been documenting her progress on social media. The sprawling property features six reception rooms, sits in roughly 30 acres, and includes quirky details such as hand-painted nudes, a fully orange bathroom, and "creepy coving."

Stacey's 'nemesis' feature

Among the home's distinctive features is a sauna with oil left behind, a gigantic fireplace, and what Solomon called her "nemesis": thick floor-to-ceiling wallpaper covering "every inch of the house."

She appealed to her millions of followers for advice when tackling the bathroom, noting: "The ceiling height is giving my furniture a real Borrowers look, everything looks so tiny."

Early Halloween decorations

The dark wooden stairs have already received an early autumn makeover, with lanterns, pumpkins, and autumn leaves placed along the sides. Solomon asked followers for guidance on the stairs, saying: "Paint? I don't know. All I know is for now they're the perfect mood for some early autumn decoration."

She also gave viewers a look at the cavernous main living room, standing beneath the oversized fireplace for perspective. "I can't work out if the fireplace is too big for the room or if it's perfect," she said. "All I do know for sure is I can not wait to hang stockings off of it and decorate it for Christmas!"

Family background

Solomon grew up in Dagenham, London, and had her first son Zachary at 17 with then-boyfriend Dean Cox. She previously told OK magazine she had to be "meticulously organised" to collect her giro and milk vouchers, saying: "If I didn't get my a**e in gear, I wouldn't have survived. I wouldn't have passed my A levels and I wouldn't have kept my baby alive."

The former X Factor contestant, now thought to be worth upwards of £10 million, has son Leighton, 14, with ex Aaron Barnham, and three children with ex-EastEnder Joe: Rex, seven, Rose, four, and Belle, three. Joe also has a 19-year-old son, Harry, with ex Emma Sophocleous.
