Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly not been invited to the wedding of Princess Anne's son, Peter Phillips, who is set to marry NHS nurse Harriet Sperling in two weeks. The ceremony will take place in Cirencester, with senior royals including King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales expected to attend.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror that the decision to exclude the Sussexes was likely made to avoid drawing attention away from the bride. “Wedding guest lists are so often a nightmare! Who to include, who to leave out? Who will be offended? And the biggest no-no is to take attention away from the bride on her big day,” she said.
Bond added that the couple's omission is unsurprising given the strained family relationships following Harry and Meghan's departure from royal duties in 2020. “It’s clear that the rift between Harry and his father and brother has had repercussions throughout the whole family,” she explained.
According to Bond, Peter Phillips has remained loyal to Prince William throughout the rift, and Harry is likely to be left out of major family events until the brothers reconcile. “Peter is a very dependable, jovial guy and he has shown in the past that he can be a buffer between the warring brothers. But I think his loyalty now lies with William,” she said.
