Sarah Ferguson is reportedly preparing to return to the UK after living overseas, days after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated their family back to Britain.
The former Duchess of York, 66, had been living with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor at Royal Lodge until the prince was stripped of his titles and forced to move out. She is now said to be renting a gated six-bedroom property in one of the home counties, which includes three bathrooms and a separate annexe.
Current whereabouts and move details
Ferguson is currently thought to be staying at a chalet in Verbier, an upmarket skiing resort in Valais, Switzerland. Her belongings were recently collected from Andrew’s new home, Marsh Farm, on the Sandringham Estate, the Sun reported.
The move comes just as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle brought their family back to Britain after a period in the United States.
Pressure over Epstein links
Following the release of millions of documents as part of the Epstein files, Ferguson has come under pressure to give evidence to US authorities about her relationship with the late financier. Several disclosed files revealed exchanges in which she described Epstein as “the brother I always wished for”.
The former duchess also visited Epstein while he was serving a 12-month jail term for soliciting a child for prostitution. She has since insisted she cut off all contact with Epstein after becoming aware of the extent of allegations against him.
Loss of titles and honours
Last year, Andrew had all his titles stripped by the King over his “serious lapses in judgement” in dealing with the convicted paedophile. Ferguson also lost the freedom of the city of York after councillors voted unanimously to remove the honour, which she and Andrew were given in 1987 as a wedding present.
