Rylan Clark has revealed he would only marry again under strict conditions, following his difficult divorce from Dan Neal. The BBC Radio 2 host said he wouldn't rule out a second wedding, but it would have to be with "the right person and with a prenup, a hundred percent."
Comments on This Morning Spark Speculation
In May, Rylan sparked fresh speculation about his love life after briefly referring to himself as "a married man" live on This Morning. Presenter Ben Shephard pressed him on whether he'd secretly tied the knot with his partner Kennedy Bates, a fairground showman. Rylan quickly clarified that he isn't married, saying he's simply "very happy" and "very content," adding: "Not married… living my fairground life."
Reflecting on First Marriage
The moment comes as an episode of Table Manners featuring Rylan from 2024 has been re-shared by the podcast team. During his appearance, the 37-year-old spoke openly about relationships and reflected on his marriage to Dan Neal. The pair tied the knot in 2015 before splitting six years later. Previously opening up about their reason for separating, Rylan said he confessed to cheating on Dan during the earlier stages of their relationship.
During a chat with podcast hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware, Rylan was asked if he could ever see himself getting married again, following the difficult divorce that followed on from his admission. In response, the X Factor star said he wouldn't rule it out, but only under strict conditions. He also suggested any future wedding would look very different to his first, which was a lavish ceremony at Braxted Park Estate. Looking back on the big day, Rylan said he no longer speaks to "half the people" who attended and revealed he'd prefer a more low-key wedding if it happened again.
"If I had another wedding, this time around, I would do something in London, because it's my own town and I love London," he added.
Lasting Impact of Divorce
While he didn't rule out walking down the aisle again, Rylan has previously said his divorce left a lasting mark. On his podcast Rylan: How to Be In Love last year, he told Vanessa Williams he still feels the impact of the split. "I've had to do it once and once was enough for me," before adding: "I couldn't imagine going through that twice, I don't know how I'd fare."
Sharing more about the impact his divorce had on him, he also told guest Mel Robbins last year: "I can safely say at this point that I have been to rock bottom, whatever you want to call it, and I know I'm never going to let myself go back there. But what that has equally done for me is make me cautious. It's made me very, very frightened to open myself up to someone. It's made me frightened to trust someone, and I'm not as confident as my work persona in my personal life."
Despite this, Rylan said he had no regrets about his relationship ending, adding: "I've learnt a lot from that" with the way he handled things. "I drove myself into the ground when really, I wish I looked back and went, 'Hang on, you're fine, this is fine'. I wish I'd never got as bad as I did because of my own way, I was thinking it's the end of the world," he added.
