Two members of the Royal Family are believed to have played a decisive behind-the-scenes role in Prince Andrew's removal from royal life, according to a royal expert. The former Duke of York was stripped of his titles and military honours following his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Quiet Influence
Katie Nicholl, co-host of the Royals Uncensored podcast, told The i Paper that Princess Kate and Queen Camilla likely wielded significant influence over King Charles and Prince William. She said: "It's very likely that Kate and Camilla wielded a quiet but incredibly powerful influence over both the King and Prince of Wales when it came to their response. Some describe them as the real power behind the throne."
The King officially stripped Andrew of his titles at the end of the year, following years of scrutiny over his relationship with Epstein. The decision was reportedly supported by the wider Royal Family, with Prince William actively involved in discussions.
Female Touch
A source told People magazine that the King's statement following Andrew's arrest featured a "female touch", suggesting Camilla and Catherine were part of the decision. The statement included a reference to "victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse".
The source said: "I would think the Queen had a hand in that. There would have been a push from Camilla and Catherine, and there was pressure from William, who would not want to inherit the headache." They added: "It was a family decision. It was quite strong, and I was quite proud when I heard it."
