Arthur Edwards, a photographer who has covered the Royal Family for 50 years, has offered blunt advice to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their return to the UK. He believes Harry is better off in Britain than in the US and hopes he will re-engage with the Royal Family, calling him "a great star."
Edwards' Advice to the Sussexes
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Edwards said Harry should "stop writing books" and Meghan should "stop making horrible jam." He added: "There he was a celebrity amongst thousands of celebrities. Here he's a prince of the realm. He might not be the knight in shining armour at the moment, but knowing him he'll bounce back."
Edwards, who has followed the family since before Prince William and Prince Harry were born, expressed hope for change: "I think hopefully, if he just stops writing books and Meghan stops making horrible jam, and they start working a bit for the family, I think things could change."
A Long History with King Charles
Edwards also reflected on his relationship with King Charles, which has spanned five decades since the monarch was the Prince of Wales. He admitted there have been "storming rows" with the King "where he's screaming at me." In one early argument at Highgrove, he shouted "at least I've got a job" at the then-Prince Charles. Edwards said those incidents were long ago, and he appreciates the King's forgiving nature; Charles is now his favourite royal.
Royal Family's Stance on Meghan's Father
The advice comes amid a scandal involving Meghan's father, Thomas Markle Sr., who denies all allegations. Royal expert Andrea Caamano told Page Six that the monarchy will not intervene. She said: "Despite Harry and Meghan's return to the UK, relations remain complicated, and I don't see the Palace wanting to become involved in matters concerning Meghan's father. I don't anticipate the Royal Family becoming involved in this situation."
Caamano added that the King will be busy during his tour in the Caribbean, while Prince William will head to India for his Earthshot Prize Awards.
