Royal cousin Flora Vesterberg announces first pregnancy

In a joyous social media announcement, Flora Vesterberg (née Ogilvy), a member of the extended royal family, has revealed she is expecting her first child with her husband, Timothy Vesterberg. The 31-year-old art historian, who is 62nd in line to the throne, shared the happy news with her followers on Instagram today.

A Stylish and Personal Announcement

The pregnancy was announced through a photograph taken by Flora's father, the landscape designer and photographer James Ogilvy. In the image, the couple are dressed in coordinated navy outfits, with Flora tenderly cradling her baby bump. She chose a floral-embroidered linen midi dress from the luxury label Erdem for the occasion.

Her caption expressed the couple's delight simply and warmly: 'Delighted to share that Timothy and I are expecting our first child. We're truly over the moon.' The post was quickly flooded with congratulatory messages from friends, family, and royal admirers.

A Modern Royal with a Powerful Voice

Flora Vesterberg is recognised not only for her royal connections as the granddaughter of the late Queen's cousin, Princess Alexandra, but also for her academic pursuits and advocacy. She is currently undertaking a PhD at The Courtauld Institute of Art in London, focusing on elevating Nordic impressionism.

In a significant and moving act last year, Flora became the first royal to speak openly about being diagnosed with autism. She detailed her experience in a personal essay for Vogue, published during Autism Awareness Month. In it, she explained how the diagnosis at age 30 brought her a sense of relief and validation, allowing her to understand her experiences and sensitivities within a new framework.

She wrote of struggling quietly with neurodiversity since childhood but now being able to perceive its strengths, encouraging herself and other autistic women to be open with their communities.

A Whirlwind Romance and Intimate Wedding

Flora and Timothy, a Swedish financier and former professional ice hockey player, were introduced by a mutual friend in May 2019. Their romance progressed quickly, with an engagement announced in November of that same year.

The couple married in a private ceremony at the Chapel Royal of St James's Palace in September 2020, navigating the strict Covid-19 restrictions in place at the time. Their wedding was attended by royal guests including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and Lord Frederick Windsor with his wife, actress Sophie Winkleman. Flora wore a gown by British couturier Phillipa Lepley and her grandmother's tiara.

While she maintains a relatively low profile within the royal family, Flora has been present at major events including Trooping the Colour, royal weddings, and the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. She and Timothy currently reside in London.
