Prince Harry is due to arrive in the UK today for the one-year countdown event of the 2027 Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham next summer. The 41-year-old royal is expected to potentially meet with his father, King Charles, but his wife Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will not accompany him.
Queen Camilla Open to Meeting
Despite the strained relationship between Harry and senior royals, Queen Camilla is said to be 'very willing' to meet with him during his visit. Royal expert Katie Nicholls revealed on the podcast The Royals Uncensored: 'I’m told that the Queen is also very willing to meet them. I was speaking to a source close to her this week, wondering if she might not be present because of the frankly horrific things Harry has said about Camilla in Spare. But no, if this meeting goes ahead, she wants to be there, she wants to see those step-grandchildren and she’s so in lock step with the King.'
Harry's Past Remarks in Spare
In his memoir Spare, released in January 2023, Harry referred to Camilla as 'evil', 'a villain', and 'dangerous'. Despite these comments, the Queen is reportedly eager to reconcile and meet with Harry and his family.
King Charles and Grandchildren
King Charles last saw Archie and Lilibet in person in June 2022 during the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. At that time, the children were aged three and one, and they did not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with senior royals.
It remains unclear where Harry will stay during his visit, as his previous offer to stay at Buckingham Palace was reportedly 'withdrawn' after he accepted it too late.
