Queen Camilla reveals King Charles's 'off-putting' habit

Queen Camilla has revealed a funny insight into her husband, King Charles, in an upcoming BBC documentary. The Queen shared that the couple spend quiet time together reading before dinner, but admitted there is one thing the King does that can be “off-putting”.

Queen's confession about the King

In the documentary, which airs on Wednesday, October 14, Queen Camilla jokes: “I occasionally, when I’m deep in a book, hear him roaring with laughter about something. It’s very off-putting; I can’t get back into my book.” She adds: “Or I’ll suddenly start weeping, but it’s a lovely, quiet time.”

The couple, who have been married since 2005, said they enjoy sitting quietly together reading. The Queen told the BBC: “My husband and I actually read before dinner. We just like sitting quietly and reading.”

Love of books and heritage

The Queen has spoken openly about her love of books over the years and reveals more insight into her reading habits in the new documentary. She says: “I think it would be a complete and utter tragedy if books went forever.” She adds: “It’s part of our heritage, if there’s no reading, personally [I think] we might as well all give up. Because I don’t think we’d even be human any longer,” reports PEOPLE.

Decades of history

The King and Queen have known each other for more than 50 years. Now-Queen Camilla spent years as his partner, both in secret and in public. The couple confirmed their relationship following years of an off-again, on-again love affair that overlapped with their respective past marriages to Diana, Princess of Wales and Andrew Parker Bowles.

They first met when Camilla was 23 and Charles was 22, at a polo match in 1970. It is believed they began dating shortly after that meeting, but it was not destined to last at that time as they parted ways a few months later when Charles joined the Royal Navy in 1971.
