PR consultant Kayley Cornelius has warned that stripping Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie of their royal titles could backfire, amid ongoing controversy surrounding their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and their connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
Recently disclosed documents feature purported emails from Sarah to Epstein, sent after his conviction for sexual crimes, in which she allegedly called him a legend and made a rude comment about Princess Eugenie. The sisters are said to be mortified by the fresh scandal but have remained silent.
Cornelius stated that giving up their titles would be unnecessary and premature, and could suggest guilt or wrongdoing. The decision to revoke titles rests with King Charles, who previously stripped Andrew of his titles.
The PR expert advised the princesses to establish their own identities through carefully chosen charity work and low-key appearances, rather than seeking high-profile deals or interviews. She said the goal is evolution, not reinvention.
Sarah Ferguson has been dropped by numerous charities, and her charity, Sarah's Trust, has announced it will close for the foreseeable future. Representatives for Sarah have not commented on the emails.
