Princess of Wales and Carole Middleton Sweet Royal Ascot Moment

The Princess of Wales and her mother, Carole Middleton, were all smiles in the Royal Box at Royal Ascot on Wednesday, as photographers captured a touching moment between the pair. Fans of the Royal Family spotted an endearing moment between the Princess of Wales and her mother, noting how it perfectly encapsulates their relationship.

Royal Ascot Day Two

Both women appeared graceful as they attended day two of Royal Ascot on Wednesday, June 17, marking Princess Catherine's first appearance at a racing fixture since 2023. Also present at the well-attended royal occasion were King Charles III and Queen Camilla, the Princess Royal and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, Zara Phillips, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Carole arrived with her daughter-in-law, Alizée Thevent.

Social Media Reaction

It was a photograph taken of Catherine and Carole in the Royal Box that attracted the greatest attention on social media. "Carole Middleton loves her children so much," one X user declared while sharing the snap. "Look at how she gazes at Catherine. It's a mum thing. Something that parents of adult kids do. I love this pic!"

Carole, 71, is also mother to the Princess's two younger siblings, Philippa 'Pippa' Matthews and James Middleton. The Royal Box image showed her and Princess Kate sharing a family moment as they beamed from ear to ear on the balcony.

A second person gushed: "The Middleton family are the type of people you'd instantly feel at ease with. Princess Catherine is kind and Mrs Middleton raised an elegant loving human being. I would love to have a mother-in-law as sweet as Carole is to her daughter-in-law and to her family."

A third praised: "They look so lovely, and my respect for Mrs Carole Middleton grows daily. She was/is a very good mother!" While a fourth X user agreed: "Oh my gosh I love this picture of The Princess of Wales with her mother Carole Middleton."

And a fifth exclaimed: "I absolutely love this. Carole admires her daughter so much. I genuinely believe it was the way that Charles and Prince Philip accepted the Princess of Wales that made Carole Middleton more accepting of allowing her daughter to marry into this family."

Fashion Highlights

Carole appeared resplendent in an elegant pale pink dress and coordinating hat, while Princess Catherine turned heads in a daffodil-yellow Roksanda creation, previously worn during her and Prince William's 2022 Caribbean tour. Earlier in the day, the Princess had made a stunning entrance alongside her husband, who was on hand to present the trophy for the Prince of Wales' Stakes.

The royal couple were also accompanied by fellow royal, Lady Sarah Chatto, who handed out the trophies for The Queen's Vase. Lady Sarah, the late Princess Margaret's only daughter, shares a particularly close relationship with the royals.

King's Disappointment

This followed a disappointing start to the week for the King and Queen, whose racing aspirations were crushed on the opening day when their horse performed poorly on the track. Charles and Camilla watched from the royal box as Reaching High was defeated in the Ascot Stakes, with 25-1 outsider Kizlyar claiming victory, as thousands of enthusiastic racegoers cheered on their chosen horses.

Also in attendance, meanwhile, were the Princess Royal and her recently-married son, Peter Phillips, along with his wife Harriet Sperling, as well as other guests including Queen Camilla's son, Tom Parker Bowles.
