Princess Kate's public role has been carefully shaped to differ from that of the late Princess Diana, according to royal expert Richard Kate. He stated that the future Queen of England "is not Diana, she doesn't want to be that sort of star, and I think on one level she's highly flattered by" the comparisons.
Kate's Unique Path
Richard made these remarks on the Channel 5 documentary Kate: Our New Diana, which compared the lives and public roles of the two royals. Unlike her mother-in-law, Kate "never sought the limelight, she fell in love with a Prince and therefore took on the role."
Kate enjoyed a multi-year relationship with Prince William before marriage, which allowed her to slowly adapt to public scrutiny. In contrast, Princess Diana and King Charles were engaged after just six months of dating.
