Princess Catherine is preparing for her future as Queen, and BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has highlighted the qualities that make her the perfect candidate. In a report by OK! magazine, Bond said the Princess of Wales possesses a great deal of common sense, which she applies to the dilemmas and difficulties that arise.
Expert Praises Princess's Toughness
Bond added that one must be quite tough to survive and thrive in the Royal Family, noting that it is easy to be intimidated by the hierarchical system of the Palace. However, Catherine has the advantage of knowing she will one day be the most senior woman in the family and in the land, giving her the right to make her views known about how the monarchy will proceed in the years and decades to come.
The princess joined the Royal Family officially when she married Prince William in 2011 and has been a devoted member ever since, continually supporting the family's work and carrying out royal duties.
A Long Road to the Throne
The Prince and Princess of Wales met in 2001 as students at St Andrews University. They were friends at first but soon began dating, only to split shortly after. They rekindled their romance in the summer of 2007, and three years later, they publicly announced their engagement.
During the couple's 2010 engagement interview with ITV News, William said he knew there was something very special about Catherine from the moment they met. The couple welcomed their first child, Prince George, in 2013, followed by Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018.
When William becomes king, his wife will be crowned Queen Consort. Though she may initially be known as The Queen Consort, she will eventually be referred to simply as Queen Catherine, similarly to Queen Camilla.
