First lady Melania Trump and the Princess of Wales have made history with their first joint solo outing together, visiting Frogmore Gardens as part of the US president's second state visit. The two women met without their respective spouses.
For the occasion, Kate wore a suede jacket and knit top from ME+EM with a long brown skirt, a neck scarf, and brown suede boots. Melania opted for a lighter-coloured ensemble, including a belted tan jacket, beige slacks, and flats.
Melania and Kate met UK chief scout Dwayne Fields and members of the Scouts' Squirrels programme. A former Scout herself, Kate has been co-president of the Scout Association since 2020. Photos showed Kate kneeling in the grass to colour with the Scouts, while Melania sat in a chair.
The outing followed Wednesday evening's state banquet, where Melania wore a bold yellow off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera gown with a pastel belt, and Kate chose a high-neck gold lace gown. Earlier, Kate greeted the Trumps in a burgundy Emilia Wickstead dress and a matching hat by Jane Taylor retailing for £2,330, while Melania wore a Christian Dior dark grey suit with a wide-brimmed purple hat.
The visit includes a ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle and a state banquet, with crowds turning out to support the president but also thousands demonstrating against his stay. Security is tight, with four arrests made near Windsor after images of Trump and Jeffrey Epstein were projected onto the castle.
