Princess Catherine has received a surprise invitation from Kylie Kelce, the wife of Jason Kelce and sister-in-law of Taylor Swift's husband Travis Kelce, in what is the latest blow to Meghan Markle. The Princess of Wales was invited to appear on Kylie's podcast, Not Gonna Lie, following her visit to the Isle of Bute in Scotland earlier this month.
Praise for the Princess of Wales
During the podcast, Kylie praised the princess and extended the invitation. She said: "Princess Kate just reminded everyone that she's still an absolute boss at field hockey."
The host added that the royal looked "beautiful doing it". She said: "For everyone in the comments who are about to correct me, I'm aware that she's actually playing the Scottish sport of shinty. I'm still calling it a win for field hockey because where do you think she got that skill? Yeah, that's right. She's a field hockey player."
Invitation extended
She then added: "Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chit-chat about some field hockey and maybe kids. I don't know. We got a couple of things in common."
She added: "Our husbands chatted on the other podcast. But you could come on this one. I don't know. Just a thought. It's a thought. We'd love to have you. No pressure. Please."
Longstanding connection
The Kelces and the Waleses have known each other for a few years. William appeared on Jason and Travis's podcast show New Heights just before Taylor and Travis Kelce's big day in New York.
In 2024, the Prince of Wales celebrated his 42nd birthday by attending Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium with his two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Talking on their podcast, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, Jason described how Charlotte made the biggest impression on him that year, explaining: "I gotta say, Prince William was fantastic when I met him, but the highlight was Princess Charlotte. She was so f****** adorable. I don't know, maybe it's because I have three girls now. She had fire to her; she was asking questions."
Reports earlier this year claimed that the Duchess of Sussex was eager to receive an invitation to Taylor Swift's big day, but she never got one.
