Princess Kate dons hard hat for treehouse visit

The Princess of Wales wore a hard hat and a hi-vis jacket on Thursday to inspect progress on a treehouse being built by East Anglian Children's Hospice (EACH) in Norwich.

The Princess, who has been patron of the hospice for many years, arrived to see the latest expansion works at The Treehouse, a facility she first opened in March 2012.

Expansion Plans at The Treehouse

The major project will add a new hydrotherapy pool, a wellbeing and therapies suite, a larger care activity area, a dedicated teenage space, an additional bedroom, and expanded kitchen and dining facilities. These additions are designed to allow the hospice to continue its lifesaving work.

The Treehouse currently offers five children's bedrooms, family accommodation, a sensory room, a hydrotherapy pool, a music studio, a sensory garden and a woodland walk, along with play areas featuring specialist outdoor play equipment.

Ongoing Care and Support

Around 185 children, young people and family members are currently receiving care and support at The Treehouse.

The Princess saw the development in progress, with completion expected in Spring 2028, and heard how EACH continues to fundraise to support both the expansion and the provision of vital day-to-day care and support for families.
