Queen Mary of Denmark has broken her silence on her daughter Princess Isabella's controversial T-shirt, worn at a music festival earlier this summer. The 18-year-old princess was spotted at the Smukfest festival in Skanderborg wearing a black top featuring a lyric from Danish band Suspekt, which translates to '[Expletive] him yesterday'. The slogan, accompanied by a white arrow, sparked widespread attention.
During a royal visit to Samsø on Thursday, Queen Mary was asked about the outfit. According to BILLED-BLADET, she responded with a cheeky smile, saying: 'My first thought was – is she completely gone?' She added: 'Let's put it this way, some decisions are better than others.'
Mary's comment echoed a similar remark Isabella made during her brother Crown Prince Christian's confirmation in 2021, when she was overheard saying to her mother: 'Are you completely confused?' The princess later referenced the incident in a speech for her 18th birthday, joking about microphones being on.
King Frederik and Queen Mary concluded their four-day summer cruise on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog on Thursday evening, hosting a reception onboard. The couple expressed gratitude in a social media post, thanking those who welcomed them during their tour of four Danish municipalities.
