Princess Eugenie is pregnant with her second child, Buckingham Palace has announced. The princess, 34, and her husband Jack Brooksbank, 38, are expecting a baby brother or sister for their son August, who was born in February 2021.
Royal Baby Joy
The news was confirmed by the palace on Tuesday, with a spokesperson saying: "Their Royal Highnesses Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child." The baby is due in early summer, according to palace sources.
Eugenie, who is the younger daughter of the Duke of York, Sarah Ferguson, and Prince Andrew, has always been close to her family. She and Jack, who works in the wine trade, married at St George's Chapel in Windsor in October 2018.
Family Expansion
The couple's first child, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, was born at the Portland Hospital in London. He was named after Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh, and is a great-grandson of the Queen. The new arrival will be the 10th great-grandchild for the late Queen Elizabeth II and the 11th for Prince Philip.
Eugenie has previously spoken about her desire to have a large family. In an interview, she said: "I love being a mum. It's the best job in the world." She has also been open about her struggles with scoliosis, a condition she had surgery for as a child.
The announcement comes just days after the princess attended the wedding of her cousin, Princess Beatrice's stepson, Wolfie Mapelli Mozzi, in Italy. Eugenie looked radiant in a floral dress, and sources say she is feeling well and enjoying her pregnancy.
Friends and family have expressed their delight at the news. Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, said: "I am over the moon. Eugenie is a wonderful mother, and August will be a fantastic big brother." Prince Andrew also shared his joy, saying: "It's wonderful news. We are all very excited."
The couple currently lives in London but also spends time at their country home in Oxfordshire. They are known for their close relationship with Eugenie's sister, Princess Beatrice, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
