Princess Diana's Favourite Dish Revealed By Former Chef

Former royal chef Darren McGrady has revealed that Princess Diana's favourite comfort food to serve her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, was spaghetti bolognaise. In a video on his YouTube channel, McGrady said the boys affectionately called it 'Spaggy Bol' and it was a staple in the royal household.

McGrady explained that he prepared the dish in a traditional manner, using minced beef, onion, celery, carrot, and beef bouillon cubes. He would often thicken the sauce with flour and serve it with spaghetti noodles or rice. The chef noted that when Princess Diana was entertaining, especially with the boys at home, she would request nursery-friendly comfort foods that both she and her children would enjoy.

Beyond cooking, McGrady recalled being drawn into the boys' games of hide and seek around the castle. He shared a story about a Christmas prank where William and Harry used pump action water guns to soak the kitchen staff. In retaliation, McGrady and a colleague purchased similar water guns, but were stopped by a policeman who misunderstood their intentions.

McGrady also revealed that Princess Diana was an early adopter of overnight oats, enjoying them long before they became a popular trend.
