The Prince and Princess of Wales have released a new photograph of Princess Charlotte to mark her 11th birthday on Saturday. The portrait, taken in Cornwall, shows the young royal outdoors in a field of daisies, wearing a striped red and black knitted jumper over a blue collared shirt and dark blue jeans, with her long brunette hair flowing past her shoulders.
The photograph, taken by Matt Porteous over Easter, was shared on social media with the caption: 'Wishing Charlotte a very happy 11th birthday!' Fans quickly noted the striking resemblance between Charlotte and her father, Prince William.
Charlotte will celebrate privately with her parents and brothers, Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis, who turned eight last week. Her mother, Kate, has previously spoken about her tradition of baking homemade birthday cakes, saying: 'I love making the cake. It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing.'
The birthday comes shortly after Prince William and Kate's 15th wedding anniversary on Wednesday and follows Prince Louis's birthday on 23 April. Princess Charlotte was born on 2 May 2015 at St Mary's Hospital in London, with her full name, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, honouring King Charles, Queen Elizabeth II, and Diana, Princess of Wales.
