Princess Catherine roared with laughter as she met volunteers and users of a minibus service in West Sussex today. The Princess of Wales beamed as she chatted with community transport group West Sussex Minibus, which acts as a vital lifeline for people who cannot easily access public transport due to isolation, mobility challenges or financial barriers.
Marking 50 years of service
Catherine helped to pick up users of the service in a minibus as she joined the organisation to mark its 50th year serving the community. Her first stop in picturesque Pulborough was at 94-year-old Stella Drewett’s bungalow.
The princess surprised passengers as the minibus picked up people on its way to Pulborough Village Hall. She wore grey suit trousers, a pussybow blouse and a wool coat.
A lively lunch with service users
Catherine joined each of the lunch tables and enjoyed a lively chat with Lynda Jones, 75, who had her in fits of giggles. The visit highlighted the vital role the minibus service plays for those in the community who face barriers to public transport.
