Princess Beatrice absent from friend's birthday in Italy

Princess Beatrice was absent from a close friend's milestone birthday party in Italy last weekend. The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson did not appear in any photos shared from Alice Naylor-Leyland's 40th birthday celebrations at Villa Cetinale in Tuscany.

Among the attendees were Lady Mary Charteris and model Poppy Delevingne. Lady Mary posted on Instagram: "We went full mambo Italiano celebrating @mrsalice on her birthday." Alice replied: "Lucky me having you lovely lot. Love you Mare."

Possible reasons for absence

According to Hello! Magazine, Beatrice and Alice are "incredibly close friends," having previously collaborated on Alice's brand Mrs Alice. The outlet suggested Beatrice may still be on holiday, as she was recently photographed in Athens with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Beatrice has kept a low profile in recent months following her father's humiliation over his links to US financier Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing.

Last public appearance

The princess's last public outing was in June at Peter Phillips' wedding in the Cotswolds. She attended with her husband and sister, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. They were pictured walking to church and greeting other royals despite rumours of tensions.
