A new photograph of Princess Anne has been released to mark her 75th birthday, showing the Princess Royal smiling by a window at her Gatcombe Park home in Gloucestershire. The portrait, taken by celebrated photographer John Swannell last month, captures Anne in a royal blue dress with a white high collar and matching cuffs—an outfit she previously wore to the King's Awards in June.
Despite the milestone, the King's sister has opted for a low-key celebration. She is believed to be spending her birthday privately with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, sailing around the Western Isles of Scotland. A palace source said: 'She didn't want to do anything for her birthday but bring her charities together to hear more about their work and how she can help them.'
Anne, who supports over 300 charities, held a special forum at Buckingham Palace earlier this year to mark the occasion. Known as the hardest-working royal, she consistently undertakes more public engagements than any other family member. Those close to her praise her 'wicked wit' and practical approach.
The princess was hospitalised just over a year ago after being struck by a horse at Gatcombe, spending five nights in intensive care. She has said she has no memory of the incident but now views every day as a 'bonus'.
