Prince William's Three-Word Command Petrified Former Private Secretary
Prince William's Three-Word Command Petrified Ex-Secretary

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who served as private secretary to Prince William and Prince Harry for eight years, has disclosed that a three-word command from William left him "petrified." The military veteran worked for the brothers from 2005 to 2013, and in 2011, ahead of William's wedding to Kate Middleton, William tasked him with a monumental responsibility.

The Three-Word Command

Speaking to The Times, Lowther-Pinkerton recalled: "I was petrified because he said to me early on, 'You're running it.' And it's the closest I'll ever get to a divisional command because you had all these brilliant experts and you didn't need to do anything. You just needed to set the parameters and let people do what they were so bloody good at."

Despite the pressure, he described the wedding as "great" and praised William for choosing well in Kate. He also noted that the couple remind him of his own parents.

Relationship with the Royal Family

Lowther-Pinkerton, who is also Prince George's godfather, spoke warmly of Kate. During an official engagement in Suffolk last year, she greeted him with a kiss. He said: "I was so embarrassed, I nearly headbutted her. I didn't know if I should be bowing. It was so sweet of her."

He described William as a natural-born leader and Harry as "more of a mischievous cub, scampering around." When asked about the brothers' rift, he declined to comment, but added that he is "very fond" of Harry and believes he has "huge redeeming features."

Career and New Book

Lowther-Pinkerton, a former SAS soldier, has now turned to writing. His first novel, Beyond the Edge of Light, is set to be published next month.
