The Duchess of Cambridge has opened up about her difficult pregnancies, revealing she was 'desperate' to leave hospital after giving birth to Prince George due to unpleasant memories of being hospitalised with severe morning sickness.
In a candid interview on Giovanna Fletcher's podcast 'Happy Mum, Happy Baby', Kate Middleton admitted that her experience with hyperemesis gravidarum made her want to avoid staying in hospital any longer than necessary. She recalled spending time in hospital before George's birth because of the condition.
'I had all the memories of being in hospital because of being sick so it wasn’t a place I wanted to hang around in,' she said. 'So, I was really desperate to get home and get back to normality.'
The Duchess also described feeling 'utterly rotten' during all three of her pregnancies, noting that her husband Prince William felt helpless watching her suffer. 'He didn’t feel he could do much to help,' she said.
Despite the challenges, Kate praised the body's ability to sustain new life even when she wasn't eating properly. Her comments come as she launches her '5 Big Questions' survey on early childhood development.
