Prince William made a conscious decision to put his royal duty ahead of his relationship with his brother Prince Harry following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's departure from royal duties, according to a former aide.
Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who served as private secretary to both princes and is godfather to Prince George, said the Duke of Cambridge is guided by a strong moral compass and will always prioritise the future of the monarchy.
Speaking in a forthcoming Channel 4 documentary, Lowther-Pinkerton said: 'Prince William is very analytical and asks all the questions and makes sure that he's clear what you're asking him to do. His sort of moral compass is set absolutely rigidly due north.'
He added that William has the clearest understanding of right and wrong and will not waver, even if it means he 'takes a hit'. The former aide, who was appointed in March 2005, also praised the prince's commitment to his military career, noting his determination to serve properly as a search and rescue pilot.
Lowther-Pinkerton believes William's role model is the Queen and that the monarchy will be in safe hands when he succeeds. 'He's inevitably drawn a lot from the example that she's given over the years,' he said.
The documentary, 'The Real Windsors: A Very Modern Prince?', airs on Channel 4 on Sunday, 21 August at 8pm.
