Prince Harry is set to arrive in the UK today for a trip that coincides with the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death. While a reunion with his father, King Charles, is considered possible, a meeting with his brother, Prince William, has been ruled out.
A source told the Mirror that William has rejected any potential reunion with Harry “out of hand,” citing a breakdown in trust following years of public allegations from the Duke of Sussex. The source said: “William feels Harry has repeatedly chosen public exposure over private resolution and that the Royal Family can’t keep being dragged into the headlines every time there’s a new contract to promote.”
The relationship between the brothers has been strained since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Public criticisms, including the Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021, the Netflix docuseries in 2022, and Harry’s memoir Spare in 2023, have deepened the rift.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond commented: “The rift between the brothers remains too deep and William has far too much going on in his life to worry about the Harry problem.” She added that reconciliation, if it ever happens, is unlikely in the near future.
Despite this, King Charles is reportedly open to meeting his youngest son for the first time in nearly two years. A US source told the Mirror: “For the first time in a long time, there’s a genuine sense that reconciliation is within reach.” The meeting would be a private, face-to-face conversation between father and son.
