Prince William is reportedly still 'wary' of his brother, Prince Harry, despite the Duke of Sussex's recent attempt at reconciliation during his trip to the UK in July. Harry held a private meeting with King Charles, which was attended by Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, Princess Lilibet, and Queen Camilla. Buckingham Palace confirmed the meeting only after it had taken place, and no details have emerged about the discussions.
Meeting sparks hope but William remains distant
The meeting sparked hope for a possible reconciliation, but royal experts suggest Harry still faces a significant obstacle: his older brother. The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex have reportedly not been in contact since the passing of Queen Elizabeth in 2022.
Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich told Fox News: "King Charles, from all indications and all feedback from courtiers, obviously wants to maintain an open dialogue and ongoing relationship with his 'dear boy'. Prince William, meanwhile, remains wary and won't want Harry at the palace."
King's invitation and expert warnings
Reports suggest the King has invited Harry to stay at Buckingham Palace during his next UK visit in September. However, Fordwich added: "It's better that Harry stays at Buckingham Palace than in Windsor, which is too close to William and his family."
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that for any reconciliation, King Charles would need William's "blessing." He told the outlet: "The attitude of the Waleses, since they are the monarchy's future, is pivotal. And with good reason, they don't trust the Sussexes. King Charles's approach could prove incendiary."
