The Prince and Princess of Wales, known for their modern approach to royal parenting, may extend their hands-on style to driving lessons. Former royal butler Grant Harrold suggested that Kate Middleton could personally teach Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to drive when they come of age.
Harrold told The Mirror that Kate's calm demeanour would make her an excellent instructor. While the children will still have an official instructor, Harrold believes the royals will prioritise trust and discretion when selecting one. He noted that the family tends to remain loyal to trusted individuals.
Prince George, who turns 13 next month, could begin driving in four years. Harrold added that having a driving licence is particularly important for royals due to the vast estates they inhabit, offering them freedom to come and go as they please.
The news comes as George prepares to start at Eton College this September, following in the footsteps of his father and uncle. The decision to send him to the all-boys school was partly influenced by the risks of mixed-gender environments in the smartphone era.
