Prince William 'relaxes' with Princess Catherine on royal duties

Prince William appears more at ease during royal engagements when he is accompanied by his wife, Princess Catherine, according to royal biographer Simon Vigar. The observation comes as the couple, who are future king and queen, balance solo appearances with joint public duties throughout the year.

A Visible Change in Demeanour

Vigar, speaking to Hello! Magazine, said William "definitely visibly relaxes when Catherine is near," drawing a parallel with King Charles and Queen Camilla. He noted that William is "very happy for Catherine to take the spotlight in a way that, back in the day, Charles wasn't with [Princess] Diana, of course, but he is now with Camilla."

The biographer also acknowledged the difficulty of carrying out royal duties alone, saying: "It's very hard to do that job on your own, and I think we'll see an even stronger double act when the time comes, when William becomes king."

Recent Joint Appearances

Since the summer break, William and Catherine have attended numerous engagements together, often appearing relaxed and smiling in each other's company. During public walkabouts, William has been seen encouraging Catherine to move faster as she spends time chatting with members of the public.

In a recent visit to Scotland, footage captured William tapping his watch jokingly and telling Catherine: "You've got to speed up, you've got to get all the way down there before you go." Such moments have made the couple popular with royal fans since their marriage in 2011.

A Relationship Built Over Time

The couple dated for several years before marrying, which added to the anticipation of their wedding. Catherine, who was shy when she first joined the Royal Family, has grown in confidence over time, partly with her husband's support. Her relatively ordinary upbringing is thought to have influenced how the couple raise their three children.
