A young cousin of Prince William and Prince Harry has been found dead at her family home with a firearm nearby, an inquest has heard. Rosie Roche, 20, a student at Durham University, was discovered by her mother and sister on 14 July at the family home in Norton, Wiltshire.
Ms Roche was the granddaughter of Princess Diana's uncle, the 5th Baron Fermoy, who died by suicide in 1984. An inquest opened at Wiltshire and Swindon Coroner's Court was adjourned until 25 October. Coroner Grant Davies stated that police have deemed the death non-suspicious and that there was no third-party involvement.
A family spokesman said Ms Roche "will be sorely missed". She was the eldest child of Edmund Hugh Burke Roche, 53, and his wife Phillipa Katie Victoria Long. Her grandfather, the 5th Baron Fermoy, committed suicide by gunshot in 1984.
The incident follows another family tragedy in February 2024, when Thomas Kingston, 45, husband of Lady Gabriella Windsor, died from a head injury with a gun found nearby. A coroner ruled that he took his own life while suffering adverse effects of recently prescribed medication.
