Prince Louis brought laughter to the royal family's day out at Glasgow 2026 with an honest confession about his gymnastics skills. The eight-year-old prince was speaking to twin gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper at Wales House in Glasgow, where the family stopped to chat during the Commonwealth Games on Saturday, August 1.
Louis joined his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, alongside Prince George, 13, and Princess Charlotte, 11, for the action-packed outing. The identical twin gymnasts, who had both won bronze medals earlier in the week, were chatting with the family when the conversation turned to stretching and conditioning.
A Candid Progress Report
As the Princess of Wales asked the athletes about their routines, Catherine turned to her youngest son and said: "Louis, you're perfecting your handstand at the moment."
Standing with his arms crossed, Louis offered a shy progress report: "A bit," he admitted, before adding: "But Charlotte says I'm not very good."
The twins quickly turned to Charlotte to ask if she could perform a handstand, and the 11-year-old princess confirmed: "Yeah."
George's Honest Admission
Prince George was quick to distance himself from any acrobatic feats when asked the same question. The 13-year-old drew laughs from his mother and the athletes as he confessed: "I'm rubbish at anything that involves flexibility."
Charlotte, meanwhile, revealed her favourite element of gymnastics is the floor exercise. Catherine chimed in that "Charlotte likes her dancing," while Prince William added: "She loves gymnastics and ballet."
The Welsh gymnasts were so delighted by Charlotte's enthusiasm that they presented the young princess with a signed Team Wales leotard to mark the special meeting.
A Day of Firsts in Scotland
The trip marked Prince Louis' first public sporting engagement and the first time all three children have been pictured together at an official event in Scotland. From updating the official medal tally board to watching tense netball semi-finals and cycle racing at the velodrome, the young royals had a day to remember - even if Louis still has a bit of handstand practice ahead of him.
