Prince Harry, once a student at Eton College—the same school Prince George will soon attend—reportedly earned a shocking two-word nickname during his time there. According to royal historian Robert Lacey, Harry was known as 'Hash Harry' due to the smoky aroma that often emanated from his room.
Prince George to Attend Eton
Kensington Palace announced today that Prince George will start at Eton College in September. The young prince, currently a student at Lambrook School, will become a boarder at the prestigious institution. While this news excites royal fans, it marks another chapter in the royal family's connection to Eton.
Royal History at Eton
Prince William, George's father, also attended Eton and enjoyed his time there. However, his estranged brother Prince Harry had a different experience. Harry reportedly struggled to fit in and faced personal challenges during his school years.
Harry has acknowledged his drug use at Eton, writing in his 2023 memoir Spare: 'I don't remember how we got the stuff. One of my mates, I expect. Or maybe several. Whenever we found ourselves in possession, we'd commandeer a tiny upstairs bathroom, wherein we'd implement a surprisingly thoughtful, orderly assembly line.' He also admitted to taking class A drugs after his mother Princess Diana's death.
The nickname 'Hash Harry' reflects the difficulties Harry faced, contrasting with William's positive experience at the same school.
