Anthony Canty, 39, died four days after a collision on Maldon Road in Tiptree, Essex, on May 21. His pregnant wife Kate has paid tribute to him, describing him as "an amazing husband and the best dad".
Collision and Death
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6.30am following reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle. Anthony was taken to hospital by ambulance, but died on May 25.
An inquest into his death earlier this year revealed he died from "traumatic injuries". Essex Police confirmed an 18-year-old man remains under investigation.
Wife's Tribute
Kate, who is expecting their third child, said in a statement: "The pain of losing him is the worst pain imaginable. Every day feels overwhelming and we are completely lost without him."
She added: "He was a hardworking, loving family man with the biggest heart. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. If someone needed help, Anthony was always there."
"He was the life and soul of the party and lit up every room he walked into with his big smile, his charm and his character. He made people laugh, brought people together and made every moment brighter just by being there."
Life-Saving Act and Lottery Win
Anthony was a key worker who helped save the life of a police officer who suffered a heart attack on a bus during the Covid-19 lockdown in April 2020, administering CPR before the officer was airlifted to hospital and spent five days in intensive care. Weeks later, in May 2020, he won £1 million in the EuroMillions.
