King Charles 'sceptical' of Prince Harry's Sandringham visit hopes

King Charles is reportedly sceptical about Prince Harry's hopes to visit Sandringham this summer with his wife Meghan Markle and their children, according to a friend of the monarch. The King, 77, believes that 'low trust' and 'bitter experience' would hinder such a visit, and that discussions should take place privately, the friend told the Daily Mail.

Harry, 41, has been hoping for an invitation from his father to spend 'family time' at the Norfolk estate with Archie, six, and Lilibet, four. A friend of the Duke of Sussex told The Times that an invitation from the King would automatically trigger the security package needed for his family, a key concern for Harry since stepping down as a working royal.

The King's friend said: 'If Harry truly wishes to see his father, he would do well to encourage his supporters to allow such matters to be discussed privately, since low trust and bitter experience in this regard remains one of the principal barriers to progress.' Harry has only seen his father twice in two years, including a brief 55-minute meeting in September 2024.
