The Duke of Sussex has spoken of his hopes for the upcoming 25th anniversary of his mother's death, describing how he wishes his children could have met her. Harry made the remarks at a polo match in Aspen, Colorado, which raised funds for his charity Sentebale.
Sentebale, which Harry founded in 2006 with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, supports children in Africa affected by poverty, inequality, HIV and Covid-19. The charity's name means 'forget me not' in Sesotho, a language of Lesotho.
Next Wednesday marks 25 years since Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a car accident in Paris. Harry, 37, said he wants the anniversary to be 'a day filled with memories of her incredible work and love for the way she did it'. He added: 'I want it to be a day to share the spirit of my mum with my family, with my children, who I wish could have met her.'
Harry noted that Diana's favourite flowers were forget-me-nots, and expressed his hope to 'do her proud' every day. He also highlighted his mother's work to support and destigmatise those experiencing HIV/AIDS.
