Prince Harry Secretly Hopes William Begs Him to Return to UK, Says Royal Expert
Prince Harry Wants William to Beg Him to Return: Royal Expert

Prince Harry secretly hoped Prince William would beg him to return to the UK, but the future king does not need him, a royal watcher has claimed. Dan Wakeford, former editor-in-chief of People magazine, said the Duke of Sussex felt a profound sense of loss outside the royal fold besides missing friends, family and home.

Mr Wakeford told the Royalist Podcast sources claim that Harry secretly hoped William would struggle without him and ask for his help. He added: "Remember, William and Harry were supposed to do this together with the fab foursome splitting this work and the pressure.

"I think he just desperately wanted and wants William to need him, and William is thriving so he doesn't need Harry and that hurts [him]."

Harry, Meghan, William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, were dubbed the "fab four" by the media as they worked together on initiatives, including around mental health.

Pop culture expert, Mr Wakeford, who founded media outlet, Celebrity Intelligence, told the Royalist Podcast Harry "quietly hoped" William would not thrive. He added: "That's a very human, natural feeling. I think Harry sees William blossoming and he secretly hoped he wouldn't. It's not malice. It's just where Harry's head is at."

Mr Wakeford suggested Harry was not observing what William is doing from "a place of peace" but "a place of loss".

His comments were made during a wide-ranging chat with podcast host Tom Sykes on the Sussexes' fortunes outside the Royal Family.

Listeners heard claims Meghan and Harry want different things out of life, with the Duchess pursuing an ambition to be a glamorous figure along the lines of billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos. Harry, on the other hand, reportedly wants a life more like the one he led while he was a senior working royal in the UK, with greater focus on charitable endeavours.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their duties as senior working royals in January 2020. Relations between William and Harry have been under strain in recent years for a number of reasons, including the Sussexes' claims of racism within the Royal Family and allegations made in the Duke's memoir, Spare.
