Prince Harry is reportedly planning to visit the UK more frequently, with royal insiders claiming he intends to make the trip across the pond “every few months” going forward.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, has lived in the US with his wife Meghan Markle and their children since stepping back from royal life in 2020. While he has returned to Britain multiple times since, these visits have been infrequent and have not always included reunions with his royal relatives.
Reunion with King Charles
Following his reunion with his father King Charles at Highgrove in July, it is believed the duke has every intention to continue visiting and spending time with him. The Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers told Today: “That meeting with the king obviously went very very well. We are hearing that Prince Harry has all the intentions of coming to the UK every few months.”
While it is believed Harry will make this a priority, it is not known if these visits will see Meghan and their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, join him.
Family security concerns
Until they came to the UK last month and joined the Highgrove reunion, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet had not previously stepped foot in the UK since 2022. The reason given for this has always been cited as security concerns, with Harry fearful for his family’s safety as they no longer get armed police protection.
For the July visit, Harry had to organise private security for his family to come to the UK safely. They did not join him for any public-facing engagements.
Buckingham Palace stay offer
King Charles has not commented on the state of his relationship with his youngest son, however has offered Harry the chance to stay at Buckingham Palace in September when he visits the UK for the Wellchild Awards in a few weeks. This has been seen as a positive move, suggesting the relationship between father-and-son is in a good place.
