Prince Harry texts pal after Nottingham visit in 'shift' for Sussexes

Prince Harry's friend Archie Manners has revealed he exchanged WhatsApp messages with the Duke of Sussex following his and Meghan Markle's joint visit to Nottingham. The comedian and magician made the remarks during an appearance on GB News, where he discussed the newspaper front pages after the Sussexes' public engagements in the city.

Manners notes possible shift in coverage

Reflecting on the coverage, Archie drew attention to the newspaper front pages and suggested the tone surrounding the couple appeared to have changed. He said: "It's a bit of a shift, isn't it? Look at these front pages. If the newspapers are a reflection of the national mood, then I would suggest that it's been a very good day for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex."

The royal commentator then revealed he had been in direct contact with the Duke that evening. He said: "Prince Harry. I've WhatsApped him. We've exchanged a few messages this evening."

Harry and Meghan's Nottingham engagements

The comments came after Harry and Meghan featured prominently across British newspaper front pages following their Nottingham engagements, with several publications highlighting the reception they received during their visit. The couple visited the Community Recording Studio in St Ann's, where Harry has longstanding ties, before continuing their day with other community-focused engagements, including a visit connected to the Himmah charity.

During the appearances, the Duke and Duchess met supporters and charity workers, with Meghan also reconnecting with people involved in the Hubb Community Kitchen initiative.

Conversation centred on people met

However, Archie suggested that the day's impact extended beyond the headlines, revealing that his private conversation with Harry largely centred on the people the couple had met. "Most of the conversation I had with Harry this evening was about how wonderful the visits were and how they made the days of a few people in Nottingham and how happy he was about that," he said.

Harry and Meghan stepped back as working members of the Royal Family in 2020 and subsequently relocated to California. Their return to the UK has since attracted renewed attention, with their latest joint appearances generating extensive media coverage.
