The Duke of Sussex has spoken publicly for the first time since his father King Charles was diagnosed with cancer, saying he is 'grateful' for the brief time they spent together in London. In an interview with ABC News, Prince Harry said he 'jumped on a plane' as soon as he heard the news.
During the interview, conducted in Canada where he is promoting the Invictus Games, Prince Harry suggested that health concerns could help unite families. 'Throughout all these families, I see it on a day-to-day basis, the strength of the family unit coming together,' he said. 'Any illness, any sickness, brings families together.'
The prince confirmed he would make more visits to the UK, stating: 'I'll stop in and see my family as much as I can.' However, he declined to discuss the King's prognosis, saying that 'stays between me and him'.
Prince Harry's visit to London lasted only one night, and he did not meet with his brother, the Prince of Wales. His wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their children did not accompany him.
In the interview, Prince Harry also spoke about his life in California, saying he loves 'every single day' of living in the US. He confirmed he has considered taking US citizenship but said it is 'not a high priority right now'.
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the Prince of Wales will attend the Bafta film awards in London on Sunday, as the King continues his cancer treatment.
