Prince Harry has revealed one issue that contributed to his falling out with his brother, Prince William. The pair have reportedly not spoken in years and remain estranged.
Growing up, the brothers were once united by the loss of their mother, Princess Diana, but now things could not be more different. Prince Harry returned to the UK at the end of August with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, but there is no sign he will be reuniting with his brother any time soon.
One Rule for Him and Another for Me
Over the years, Harry has spoken about some of the reasons why he and his brother fell out. One reason he shared was that it was "one rule for him and another for me."
Princess Catherine was given unofficial palace guidance when she began her relationship with William, Harry says, and was given round-the-clock security as soon as the couple got engaged. Harry was desperate for action to be taken for his then future wife after she became a target on social media and was furious when he was told any security would not be forthcoming until the couple were married, reports the Daily Star.
Security Request Refused
In a biography, William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story, Mirror royal editor Russell Myers also explains how the Duke of Sussex was "incredulous" when his request for royal protection for Meghan before they married in 2018 was refused.
His father, Charles, also insisted he could not get involved because it was a government decision, despite the help given to Catherine when she became engaged to William.
Harry and Meghan did interviews with Oprah Winfrey, Tom Bradby and Gayle King alongside making their own Netflix TV series. Harry also published his memoir, Spare. In these, the couple made a number of claims about their lives as senior working royals, including a huge argument Harry is said to have had with William.
Tensions are believed to have begun between Harry and Meghan and his royal relatives some time before the couple made the decision to leave the UK and date back to before the Duke's lavish 2018 wedding to Meghan in Windsor.
