Prince Harry is reportedly looking at opportunities outside of America, but not in the UK. The Duke of Sussex, who quit royal life six years ago, has lived in America since 2020 with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five.
Australia as a potential new home
According to Sky News Australia, Harry has set his sights on a role in Australia that would allow him to carry out royal duties on behalf of his father, King Charles. A source told royal reporter Rob Shuter: "Meghan has no interest in moving back to Britain. Harry believes an overseas role, particularly in Australia, would allow them to serve the King while keeping the life he has built with Meghan and the children."
Private discussions with the King
It is believed Harry could have raised this idea privately with his father, King Charles. However, the monarch is unlikely to have expressed much of an opinion on the matter. The King is unlikely to publicly address whether Harry has suggested this idea to him.
Harry's strained royal relations
Harry, 41, has been kept away from royal duties after quitting in 2020 and criticising the Firm. He did this in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, followed by the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan. He also released his memoir Spare in 2023, which was believed to be the final straw in some of his royal relationships, including with his brother Prince William.
