Prince Harry is reportedly still hoping to reunite King Charles with Meghan Markle and their two children during his UK visit, despite ongoing security concerns surrounding the family's travel. The Duke of Sussex is understood to be exploring private security arrangements that could allow Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to spend a short period in Britain if suitable measures can be put in place.
Ongoing Discussions for a Family Meeting
Harry remains hopeful a family meeting with the King can be arranged, with discussions said to be continuing behind the scenes, say insiders. One source said: "While nothing has been ruled out, conversations remain ongoing." Another added: "The King would not pass up the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and if there is a way of making it possible, he will do it."
Private Security Under Consideration
Harry is said to be investigating whether private security could make even a brief visit possible, with reports suggesting Meghan and the children could travel to the UK for as little as 24 hours. The latest claims follow earlier reports from The Telegraph that the Duke is eager for Archie and Lilibet to spend time with their grandfather, whom they have not seen since 2022.
A source close to the Sussexes told the newspaper that ongoing security issues had made arranging family travel increasingly difficult. The source claimed the Home Office had "willfully [created] conditions that are making it nearly impossible" for the family to visit Britain safely.
Impact on Children a Key Concern
"The precarious security situation and endless speculation about where the family will stay is making the planning and logistics for the private security team increasingly difficult," the source said. "Harry is a big guy, a former soldier and generally pretty robust when it comes to handling these incidents. It's what impact such moments would have on the kids that everyone is most concerned about."
The Telegraph also reported that the Sussex family are believed to be holidaying in Europe and that Harry has considered flying Meghan and the children into Britain for a one-day visit. The newspaper added that Buckingham Palace had given assurances there remained hope of a meeting between Harry and the King during the Duke's time in the UK.
